The Committee inscribed 21 new sites to the World Heritage List. This includes 15 cultural, 5 natural and 1 mixed properties. Of these three countries are having their sites listed for the first time on the list, namely Kiribati, Marshall Islands and Tajikistan. The Committee also included one natural site which is also recognised for its cultural values as a mixed site.
The World Heritage Committee also added four World Heritage Sites into the List of World Heritage in Danger, and removed the Galápagos Islands from that list.
