The Cathedral of St James, or Katedrale sv. Jakova, in Šibenik is one of the most famous cathedrals in Croatia. It is regarded as one of the most important monuments of Renaissance architecture in the country.

The Cathedral of St James was erected between 1431 and 1535. Three different architects worked on the cathedral, one succeeding the other. They were Francesco di Giacomo, Georgius Mathei Dalmaticus and Niccolò di Giovanni Fiorentino. The resulting structure is a masterpiece that fuses elements of achitectural styles of Northern Italy, Dalmatia and Tuscany.

The Cathedral of St James in Šibenik was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 24th session of the World Heritage Committee that met in Cairns, Australia, on 27 November to 2 December, 2000.

In inscribing the Cathedral of St James in Šibenik, the World Heritage Committee recognizes the cathedral for its unique structural characteristics in which the Gothic and Renaissance styles were masterfully fused.
