The Central Amazon Conservation Complex is the largest protected forest area within the Amaon Basin, covering 5,323,018 hectares. The area includes the entire hydrological basin of the Jaú River, and is also known as Jaú National Park in Brazil. It is one of the richest in the world in terms of biodiversity. The area is home to the largest type of electric fish in the world, as well as many endangered species such as the giant arapaima fish, the Amazonian manatee, the black caiman, and two species of river dolphins.
