The Cerrado Protected Areas comprise Chapada dos Veadeiros and Emas National Parks in Brazil. They are one of the world's oldest and most diverse tropical ecosystems, being a refuge for several species that survive here through periods of climate change.

The Cerrado Protected Areas were inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 25th session of the World Heritage Committee meeting in Helsinki, Finland, on 11-16 December, 2001. The site was recognised for its contribution in maintaining the biodiversity of the Cerrado Ecoregion. It is a stable species refuge where climate changes affect surrounding places.
