The Church and Dominican Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie is a World Heritage Site in Milan, Italy. It is famous for being the location for the famous wall painting by Leonardo da Vinci entitled The Last Supper

The Church and Dominican Convent of Santa Maria della Grazie was built in the 15th century over the site of a small chapel dedicated to St Mary of the Graces. The initiator of the project was Duke Ludovico Sforza, who wanted a church as his family burial place. The convent was completed in 1469 while the cloister and apse by 1490.

The Last Supper was executed by Leonardo da Vinci representing the scene as narrated in the Gospel of John Chapter 13 Verse 21, when Jesus announces that one of his Twelve Apostles would betray him. It is located in the refectory (dinner hall) of the monastery, although at the time it was done, it was not used as a refectory. It was in fact commissioned by Duke Sforza as the centerpiece of his family mausoleum. The Last Supper measures 450 cm by 870 cm (15 feet by 29 feet). On the opposite wall facing it is a fresco entitled Crucifixion by Giovanni Donato da Montorfano - Leonardo added figures of the Sforza family in tempera to it.

Church and Dominican Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie with The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 4th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Paris, France, on 1 - 5 September, 1980.
