  Archaeological Landscape of the First Coffee Plantations in the South-East of Cuba, Cuba
The first coffee plantations in Southeast Cuba were in the foothills of the Sierra Maestra, a particularly difficult terrain for agriculture. Coffee production resulted in the creation of a unique cultural landscape. This took place in the 19th century, and provides a glimpse into the economic, social and technological history of Cuba, the Caribbean and the whole Latin American region.
The Archaeological Landscape of the First Coffee Plantations in the South-East of Cuba was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 24th session of the World Heritage Committee meeting in Cairns, Australia, on 27 November to 2 December, 2000.

Location: N 20 01 48 W 75 23 29 in Santiago and Guantanamo Provinces, in the South-Eastern Region of Cuba, covering an area of 81,475 hectares.
