Goiás is a mining town in Brazil that developed in the 18th and 19th century. It is an outstanding example of the harmonious integration of public and private architecture, due in part to the application of local material and building techniques. Also known as Goiás Velho, or Old Goiás, it is a small city within the state of the same name, Goiás, in Brazil.
Goiás was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 25th session of the World Heritage Committee The town was recognised for representing the evolution of the urban structure and architectural characteristic of the colonial settlement of South America.
