The Saltworks of Salins-les-Bains to Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans was built in Besan&ctilde;on, France, during the reign of King Louis XVI in 1775. The architect was Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. It was a major accomplished and a masterpiece of industrial architecture.

The saltworks of Salis-les-Bains to the saltworks of Arc-et-Senans are a semicircular complex. It was designed so that the work could be organised in a hierarchy. There was to be a working city alongside the saltworks, but it was never realised.

Saltworks of Salins-les-Bains to Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 6th session of the World Heritage Committee which met in Paris, France, on 13-17 December, 1982.
