Toledo, the capital of Toledo Province, is located about 70 km to the south of Madrid. A city of about 83,000 people, it was one of the former capitals of the Spanish Empire, and bears Christian, Jewish and Muslim cultural influences. The city is home to many famous people including Al-Zarqali, Garcilaso de la Vega, Eleanor of Toledo, Alfonso X and El Greco.

The city of Toledo has many monuments of cultural and heritage significance.
