The Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor is one of the most astonishing archaeological discoveries of China. This is the mausoleum famous for its terracotta warriors, and mirrors the urban plan of the capital at that time, Xianyan. The outstanding level of craftsmanship that went into creating the terracotta figures makes them masterpieces of realism. No two figure are alike. In addition to the warriors were figures of horses, chariots and weapons.

The Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 11th session of the World Heritage Committee at Headquarters in Paris, France, on 7-11 December, 1987.

Visiting Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor

The Mausoleum to the First Qin Emperor is located in Xian, which is a major town in China. The Xian International Airport (XIY) gets flights from all major Chinese cities.

Getting around in most Chinese cities are a challenge, with taxi and bus drivers that are not the most scrupulous and tours taking you to shops. Having said that, your best bet in seeing the terracotta warriors is to book a local tour.
