Mount Huangshan is regarded by many as the most beautiful mountain in China. Located in Anhui Province, it is the quintessential mountain immortalized in art and literature, and is often the subject of many Chinese ink paintings.

Mount Huangshan has been a pilgrimage site of sorts, drawing poets, painters and now photographers who come here to marvel at its mersmerizing sceneries. Today legends of tourists make a beeline to enjoy the craggy beauty of Mount Huangshan.

In recognition of its outstanding universal value, the World Heritage Committee inscribed Mount Huangshan as a World Heritage Site during its 14th session held in Banff, Alberta, Canada, on 7-12 December, 1990.

Visiting Mount Huangshan

Your base for visiting Huangshan is the city on Tunxi. From Tunxi, it takes about 1½ hours to Tangkou, at the base of Huangshan. It may be easier to get a tour agency in Tunxi to help you with the arrangement.
