The Abbey Church of Saint-Savin sur Gartempe is popularly known as the Romanesque Sistine Chapel on account of its exquisite 11th and 12th century murals, most of which are still remarkably well preserved.

The Abbey Church of Saint-Savin sur Gartemple is located in Poitou, France. The church is cruciform in plan, with a square tower located over the cross. Its bell tower is topped with a stone spire which is over 80 meters high added in the 14th century. Under the church is the Crypt of St Savin and St Cyprian.

Abbey Church of Saint-Savin sur Gartempe was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 7th session of the World Heritage Committee in Florence, Italy, on 5-9 December, 1983.
