Shirakami Sanchi is a trackless site in northern Honshu that has been recognised as a World Heritage Natural Site. The name means "white god mountain area". It is an expanse of virgin forest within Aomori Prefecture and Akita Prefecture. The whole area covers 1,300 sq km, of which 169.7 sq km is within the World Heritage Site.

To keep Shirakami Sanchi from undue human activity, it is not opened to visitors. Permission is required to enter it. There is only a limited number of forest trails within the site.

Shirakami Sanchi was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 17th session of the World Heritage Committee held in Cartagena, Colombia, on 6 - 11 December, 1993.
