[an error occurred while processing this directive][an error occurred while processing this directive] Stralsund and Wismar Stralsund and Wismar are medieval towns in Germany with their historic centres being World Heritage Sites. These two towns are located in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. They were trading centres of the Hanseatic League during the 14th and 15th centuries.

The development of Stralsund and Wismar popularised the Brick Gothic style of architecture prevalent in the Baltic region. Many of the historic sites in these two towns, including the Town Hall of Stralsund, a few cathedrals and residential houses, reflect the evolution of the architectural style over the centuries.

Historic Centres of Stralsund and Wismar was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 26th session of the World Heritage Committee that was held in Budapest, Hungary, 24 - 29 June 2002.
