[an error occurred while processing this directive][an error occurred while processing this directive] The Talamanca Range-La Amistad Reserves in Costa Rica are a truly unique site in Central America. The area was carved by Quaternary glacier, bringing together the animals and plants of North and South America into close proximity, resulting in interbreeding.

The Talamanca Range-La Amistad Reserves are a densely forested area and home to four different tribes of American Indians. The property was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 7th session of the World Heritage Committee in Florence, Italy, from 5 to 9 December, 1983.
