The Dolomites is a section of the northern Italian Alps that are today a World Heritage Site in Italy. There are at the Dolomites 18 peaks which are over 3000 meters in height.

The Dolomites is a picturesque area with magnificent mountain landscapes. It also has one of the best preserved fossil records of the Mesozoic carbonate platform systems.

The Dolomites was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 33rd session of the World Heritage Committee in Seville, Spain, on 22 - 30 June, 2009.
