The United States of America ratified the World Heritage Convention on 7 December, 1973. As of August 2010, it has 21 World Heritage Sites. Of these, 8 are in the cultural category, 12 in the natural category and one in the mixed category. the United States also has another 14 sites on the World Heritage Tentative List.
